Context & Challenge
Vietnam Airlines, the flag carrier of Vietnam founded in 1956, has been on an ambitious digital transformation path, aiming to become the first fully digital airline in Vietnam by 2025.
After four years of using the first version of the app and website (since 2013), user feedback revealed usability issues and a design that fell short of modern standards. To stay competitive and keep up with rapidly changing market expectations, a comprehensive redesign was essential.

Our process began with deep user research and usability audits to pinpoint pain points in key flows—booking, check-in, flight updates, and loyalty interactions.
Inspired by Vietnam Airlines’ transformation strategy and digital ecosystem , we crafted a responsive, user-centered UI that emphasizes speed, clarity, and seamless cross-platform performance. We prioritized accessibility (WCAG AA standard), intuitive navigation, and consistent branding to evoke the premium yet friendly spirit of the airline.
Final Outcome
The redesigned platforms now offer a modern, clean visual identity with enriched user flows for booking, managing flights, and engaging with the loyalty program. The streamlined experience reduces friction, speeds up task completion, and enhances brand trust by reflecting Vietnam Airlines’ digital maturity and customer-centric ethos.
Lesson & Reflection
This project reaffirms the value of aligning design with strategic objectives—digital transformation and user loyalty. It taught us that modernizing an established brand requires balancing usability, brand heritage, and innovation.
